Granite is able to withstand extremely high temperatures, it is highly scratch resistant, and the maintenance is incredibly simple. So what’s the difference between different grades of granite? Let’s go through the different colors, designs, and prices.

Level 1 Granite

Level 1 granite is the lowest grade of granite, but it still looks great. The reason it is considered level 1 is because it has a very simple design and the colors are standard. Prices for level 1 granite are typically in the $40-$50 range per square foot. Some homeowners prefer the simple look rather than a higher grade of granite.

Level 2 Granite

Level 2 granite is a step ahead because the designs and colors become a little more unique. Rather than patterns being relatively uniform as shown in level 1 granite, there is a more variety of markings. The picture below demonstrates the differences very well. Homeowners should expect to pay between $50-$60 per square foot.

Level 3+ Granite

Granite has more than just 3 levels. A lot of companies typically go up to 5 levels, but we have seen some countertop companies go up to 6 or 7 levels. As the granite level increases, you should expect to pay $58-$100. Below are examples of level 3 and level 4 granite.
